Work BC is amazing. They help with everything. Resumes, job search, re-training, work clothes… whatever you need to find employment. They will help you. They have all the technology for you to use at your leisure. I was interested in retraining. They helped me narrows down what field was hiring & in demand. They told me about bursaries. I applied & was approved. As a result my tuition was paid for as well as a laptop & work clothes. They followed up post graduation to see how my job search was going. They offered more assistance to get me working in my new field. Amazing. Shout out to Constantine. What a pleasure to work with Constantine through all this! Go to Work BC. They are an amazing resource and they will help you.
WorkBC isn’t about getting people back to work, it’s about filling their own quotas. Helpful if you struggle to write a resume or send an email, but useless if you are just needing to find new work. I was told to apply for jobs online and they also tried to get me to volunteer at one of their events (as if that’ll get anyone back to work in 2026) Found work without their help. Completely useless service that should be defunded to stop wasting money.
This place will help you if you're helping yourself as much as you can and will point 👉 you in the direction you either need to be or suggest something you might be interested in. They have a couple good classes, recourses and information I found useful and quite exceedingly helpful.
Super uncomfortable series of events, both the case manager and his manager talked to me like I was beneath them, maybe patronizing or condescending is the word, um.. I can do it myself. Not going back, thanks.
Work BC is THE BEST program the provincial government has in its budget!! My experience with them has been nothing short of phenomenal. From access to computers for job search activities, to retraining initiatives, to staff that go above and beyond for those serious about trying to stay off provincial benefits. I am 55 years old, and was facing having to depend on disability benefits, having worked all my life in the trades ,this was a demoralizing reality.....BUT, having the drive to still stay working ,employment case workers and managers worked with me and as a result I am moving to start a new job STILL in the field I spent 30 years in, to use my duel red seal certifications to train a new generation of millwrights and welders. Without work BC , I would have passed up such an opportunity, but they helped me obtain everything I needed to start there. My case worker was awesome. She went above and beyond, listening to me and my struggles during an appointment that was for job opportunities, I needed someone to talk to and they were there in a capacity beyond that of just an employment case manager. You guys are awesome, send you some pics as soon as I'm settled. THANK YOU , ALL OF YOU for all of your support!!!!! WORK BC ROCKS!!!!
